Launching in the autumn of 2015, Norwegian Escape will be based year-round in Miami, carrying sun-and-fun-lovers to the Bahamas and the Caribbean. A sister ship to Norwegian Breakaway and Getaway, Escape will be packed with bars and restaurants, round-the-clock entertainment and accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets. The ship, like Norwegian's other vessels, has a brightly painted hull, in this case depicting leaping fish and sea turtles.
On board, many of the restaurants are clustered along The Waterfront, an ocean-facing promenade a quarter of a mile long, with indoor/outdoor seating and perfect for balmy Caribbean nights. Much of the rest of the action centres around 678 Ocean Place, a three deck-high entertainment complex of restaurants and bars, including O'Sheehan's, a busy pub; and Teppanyaki, where knife-twirling chefs keep guests enthralled as they prepare Japanese classics with panache. Among the many bars on Norwegian Escape is a seagoing offshoot of Tobacco Road, Miami's oldest and most iconic watering hole. The casino is the largest on any Norwegian ship, complete with its own cocktail lounge and for high rollers, a private gambling room.
Staterooms vary from studios for solo travellers to Spa category rooms in restful colours, a stay in which includes access to the thermal suite of the ship's huge spa. If you're looking for an oasis of calm, yet enjoy the buzz of a big ship, check into The Haven, where a range of suites comes complete with butler service, a private pool, restaurant and sunbathing deck. There are family suites here, too; in fact, this is a great ship for families thanks to its informal dress code, the facilities on deck (including several water slides) and the sheer number of dining choices.
