A Caribbean favourite for over 50 years now, Curtain Bluff has managed to retain all of its Caribbean charm and intimacy, whilst ensuring the hotel keeps pace with all modern expectations of comfort. Service at this hotel is second to none, and the hotel was ahead of its time with investing in the local area and people via its Old Road Fund, which pays for university scholarships for local children and medical relief to the Old Road village; all of which we believe is part of what makes the people who work there so happy to do so. The style of the hotel is elegant but unpretentious and an absolute haven of colonial charm. Very much a family affair the hotel is still family owned and run, welcoming returning guests back for several generations as well as charming new ones every season.
Curtain Bluff, as the name suggests sits upon a rocky promontory (bluff) dividing two beaches. The two beaches offer guests the wild Atlantic on one side, and the calm Caribbean Sea on the other. All the guests rooms run along the Atlantic beach side of the hotel, rising up to the top of the bluff where the Grace Bay and Morris Bay Suites are situated. All the rooms
An all inclusive property, you will find more than just the usual non-motorised watersports included in your price at Curtain Bluff, so perhaps even the most ardent sun worshippers can be persuaded to vacate their sunbeds once in a while! Included here you can enjoy scuba diving (including all necessary equipment), waterskiing & wakeboarding (speedboat, equipment and instruction), deep-sea fishing excursions and equipment (limited availability) as well as hobie cats, kayaks, windsurfing and snorkelling equipment. On dry land you can sample tennis courts (racquets & balls), fitness centre, squash court (racquets & balls), putting green and half basketball court amongst the many activities on offer here. Spa lovers are also well catered for here. The spa built in 2007 is set slightly apart from the hotel enhancing the air of tranquillity. Just feet from the sea the four treatment rooms have views out across the water to Montserrat, St Kitts, Cades, Nevis and Redonda.
Food is most definitely another highlight at Curtain Bluff. There is an elegant open-air main restaurant for all meals as well as the Beach Club for lunch and refreshments during the day, and four times a week this becomes the Sea Grape restaurant for just 40 diners enjoying a delicious Italian influenced menu next to the ocean. The cuisine is continental with a local blend of Caribbean flavours and a different dinner menu each evening. There is also a weekly beach party luncheon complete with steel band - and nightly entertainment. As part of the all-inclusive package the hotels excellent house wines are included in your cost. However for a treat we recommend you take a tour of Curtain Bluffs amazing wine cellar, and see if anything tempts you. Stocked with over 25,000 bottles the hotel will happily give you a tour of the cellar you can pay to join on of the wine tastings on a Friday afternoon (payable locally)
