The 1m266-passenger Maasdam's interiors reflect the golden age of Dutch seafaring in a contemporary context. The ship is a floating art gallery, with paintings and artefacts from the 17th to 19th centuries integrated into the décor. Public rooms span two decks on the Promenade and Upper Promenade in an asymmetrical pattern, allowing for bars and lounges of different sizes. The three-deck high atrium is crowned by a ceiling of mirrors and fibre-optic lights, while the monumental centrepiece is a 30-ft high totem sculpture crafted from almost 2,000 glistening pieces of glass.
Smaller than many Holland America Line vessels, Maasdam is designed to carry fewer guests while providing more space for maximum comfort.Staterooms feature comfortable, contemporary furnishings in light wood with a colour scheme of either peach or blue. Standard accommodation is almost 30 per cent larger than comparable cabins on ships of similar category. There are Inside Staterooms at 182 sqft; Outside Staterooms and Lanai Staterooms with sliding glass doors that lead onto the walk-around Lower Promenade Deck. The top suites also offer access to the Neptune Lounge where concierge service is available.
The crowning glory of Maasdam is the Rotterdam Dining Room that spans the Promenade and Upper Promenade Decks. Centrepiece is a fountain of antique Argentine marble while the ceiling is a canopy of Murano glass. Dining is an elegant experience with Rosenthal china bearing a gold Holland America Line logo and fresh flowers. There's also the acclaimed Pinnacle Grill, for prime cuts of meat and some of the best seafood at sea, and Canaletto, serving Italian specialities, as well as the casual Lido Restaurant.
