Privately owned and managed by the Hoffman family, the Montpelier Plantation Inn is set in an 18th-century sugar plantation which has been lovingly re s t o r ed to its former glory. Steeped in history, the beautiful house witnessed the marriage of Lord Nelson and Fanny Nisbet in 1787. The Hoffman family has lent Montpelier Plantation a wonderful family vibe that is evident thr oughout the hotel - the amiable staff refer to you by your name and guests often get together in the bar before proceeding to dinner.
Just 17 rooms are housed in eight pretty cottages. Each differ in d飯r, but all offer the same standard of comfort with fine bed linen and soft chenille bedspreads. This contemporary sanctuary is comfortable yet simple ' no televisions in the rooms, and those rooms that are not air-conditioned benefit from the lovely, cooling sea breezes, as the hotel benefits from the fresher climes of 750 feet above the Caribbean Sea.
Romantic dining can be enjoyed at The Mill, an intimate venue transformed from an original 17th - century Sugar Mill. With seating for only twelve, the atmosphere is cosy and convivial ' perfect for an indulgent candlelight dinner for two. Alternatively, stroll through the gardens to the Great Room before dining on delicious cuisine, pre p a r ed with fresh local produce, in a lovely outdoor setting. Spend your days, lazing around by the freshwater pool, taking lingering walks on the private beach, or playing tennis. The hotel is also ideally located for a range of activities including golf, hiking, horseback riding and water sports. |
