Each side of Norwegian Dawn's hull features eye-catching artwork reflecting the ship's destinations - from Boston to Bermuda during the northern summer, and around the Southern Caribbean in winter - as well as its collection of original paintings by the likes of Van Gogh and Monet. The colourful design hints of the lifestyle you're likely to find on board this Norwegian Cruise Line ship: friendly, fun and widely varied.
Refitted in 2011, Norwegian Dawn offers no less than 14 dining options, all with a smart-casual dress code. Six are complimentary, including the grand Venetian restaurant complete with crystal chandeliers, the poolside Bimini Bar and Grill, and the main dining room, Aqua. Italian and Asian fare are also on offer, as well as Brazilian churrascaria and Cagney's Steak House - don't miss the truffle fries in here. The buffet Garden Café includes a children's menu; all round, this is a great pick for families, with the T-Rex Kids Club, separate kids' pool, video arcade and teen club offering plenty of distractions.
For adults, there's a selection of 12 bars and lounges, from the art deco Gatsby's Champagne Bar to classy cocktails at the Star Bar. Spinnakers nightclub spins tunes for over 400 guests every night, while the Dawn Casino does a roaring trade and laser-fuelled spectaculars run throughout the voyage at the Stardust Theatre. Ease the morning after in one of the six hot tubs or indulge in a hot stone massage at the El Dorado Spa.
With a capacity of 2,340 guests, cabins and suites are spacious; each features a large bathroom and many accommodate four guests, ideal for families. Several suites have private balconies, or can be combined with the suite next door for extra space. We love Norwegian Dawn for its relaxed, casual atmosphere, perfect for a younger crowd and families with plenty of energy to burn.
