Silver Shadow was launched in 2000, the first move by Silversea into slightly larger ships, such had been the success of the line's original pair, Silver Wind and Silver Cloud. The fact that 302 crew are on board to respond to the whim of just 382 guests is some indication of the level of luxury you can expect.
Silver Shadow, like its sisters, is a graceful ship with touches of Art Deco in the design, from geometric light fittings to the soft teal and caramel colour scheme in Dolce Vita. There are several choices when it comes to dining, from international and regional dishes served in the elegant setting of The Restaurant to the lavish tasting menu offered in La Dame. La Terrazza serves regional Italian specialities, while a recent refurbishment of the pool area added a grill where you can sizzle your own steak, lamb, chicken, prawns or salmon on hot volcanic rocks - a kind of individual barbecue, perfect for hot summer's nights.
Eight suite grades range from the quiet, entry level Vista Suites, which come with marble bathroom, walk-in wardrobe and a bar stocked with the drinks of your choice, to the palatial Owner's Suite, with two bedrooms, a spacious veranda and a full-sized whirlpool tub. Most suites have a private veranda and all are served by highly-trained butlers.
We find our clients return to Silver Shadow thanks to the ship's ability to satisfy such a wide variety of tastes. Whether you want to play the tables in the casino and dance till dawn in the Panorama Lounge, or by day to lounge by the pool, sipping cocktails, or enjoy new adventures ashore, this beautiful ship will deliver.
