With inspiration drawn from the African mainland, North Island is a totally unique haven where sumptuous 'home-from-home' meets safari. As the private island has an area of more than 200 hectares and only 11 villas, you're more likely to bump into a giant tortoise than another guest.
The fabulous villas, built from wood, local stone, glass and thatch, embody barefoot luxury ambience and are almost completely camouflaged amongst the palm trees. Each villa has its own private pool, just perfect for a romantic dip, and an outdoor daybed for afternoon naps or even slumbering under the stars. French doors fold away to make you feel as though you are outdoors even when indoors. Sumptuous bedrooms in subtle, natural colours boast beautiful wooden beds with crisp white bed linen and vibrant woven rugs on the floor. The huge en suite bathrooms have enormous sunken baths, surrounded by candles, and the alfresco showers are equally as impressive, with intricate shower curtains made from colourful stones and pretty coral.
Everything at North Island invites you to simply relax from the secluded palm-fringed sala overlooking the bay to the main pool reached only by a vine clad ladder and the deep comfortable sofas in the lounge. The food is a high point of any stay, whether breakfasting on fresh bread with banana and rum jam, snacking on coconut nougat or feasting on fresh lobster.
Lush palms, vegetation and tropical trees surround the beach and with no seaweed or rocks to spoil the perfect soft sand and blue water, you'll feel you're in a picture postcard.
Cuisine at North Island
Acclaimed chef, Geoffrey Murray is cooking up a storm on North Island! His superb cuisine draws on diverse cultural influences, which, in part, make up the Seychellois Creole flavour - blending flavours from Africa, France, southern India and southeast Asia. Much of the fresh produce is grown on North Island, while the seafood is freshly caught every day from the waters around the island. The delicious menu is complemented by a superb wine and champagne list. |
