Reminiscent of a southern Thai village, the timber pavilions and villas are scattered throughout tropical gardens in a 26 acre coconut plantation. The two-storey pavilions are furnished in chic earth tones with Thai silk cushions and beautiful pottery as ornaments, which can be bought in the resort’s boutique as a stylish memento of your stay. A curved stairway links the elegant living/dining room with the airy bedrooms above, each with king-size beds and shuttered picture windows that let the light flood in.
The re s o rt accesses three separate beaches, each dominated by imposing limestone outcrops that provide dramatic contrast to the resort ’s forest surrounds. Spend your days snorkelling, canoeing or dinghy sailing in the warm waters of the Andaman Sea, or take a dip in the stunning free - formswimming pool overlooking Raitalay Beach. The hotel has also recently added another beautiful new pool. Other enticing diversions include a trip to the lovely isle of Phi Phi aboard a traditional junk and a visit to the vibrant morning market of nearby Krabi Town.
No visit would be complete without a visit to the newly refurbished spa, a relaxing sanctuary offering traditional Thai treatments and reviving therapies from around the world. Brass sculptures of monkeys decorate its seven treatment rooms, symbolic of the real creatures that chatter in the surrounding forest of the national park.
For dining, Andaman Grotto is a particularly atmospheric spot to enjoy freshly caught seafood. The bar and restaurant are built into a rock cave, with lovely views of the sunset and the fishing boats bobbing in the bay.
Activities
Among Rayavadee’s extensive programme of activities are more unusual diversions such as reef walks and mountain treks through the spectacular terrain of the surrounding National Park. In addition, the resort runs a seasonal series of special classes for guests’ enjoyment, ranging fro m learning the traditional art of batik painting to Thai cookery tuition.
