Though the stunning ocean views and white sand beaches remain unchanged, this luxury resort – sister to the prestigious One&Only Le Saint Géran – has undergone a $50 million makeover, creating a stylish tropical retreat.
Set on the east coast of Mauritius, the resort also extends to several offshore islands. The 98 new suites enjoy sea views from Frangipani Island, which is linked by a wooden bridge to the mainland, where the other rooms are located. All benefit from 24 hour personalised butler service, and are furnished in a modern, minimalist-style using Egyptian cottons, African woods and local paintings. Some suites feature striking touches such as a stand alone egg-shaped bath.
The new Givenchy Spa is also located on Frangipani, with nine rooms offering exotic treatments such as a four hand ylang ylang massage or Canyon Love Stone Therapy. Attached to the spa is the Matt Roberts Personal Training Centre, where fitness programmes are combined with nutritional advice and relaxation techniques.
An extensive array of water sports is offered on another island, Ile aux Cerfs, including complimentary sailing, water-skiing and deep-sea fishing. Cycling, scuba diving and tennis offer further ways to keep fit, while the brand new Bernhard Langer 18-hole course, located on Ile aux Cerfs will attract golfers. Supervised activities will delight 2 to 11 year olds at the kid’s club, with its imaginative Robin Hood theme. In addition, all guests receive a privilege card allowing them to access the facilities at One&Only Le Saint Géran.
Renew your energies in the resort’s dizzying array of restaurants, from the authentic Mauritian dishes and seafood served at Paul et Virginie on Ile aux Cerfs, to the main dining room Three-Nine-Eight. Here, nine cuisine types are presented at eight show kitchens on three levels – creating a delicious pan-global buffet. And if you fancy a snack while you’re sunbathing, the beach service delivers refreshments direct to your sun lounger. At One&Only Le Touessrok, you’ll truly want for nothing.
Ilot Mangénie
A third island, the private Ilot Mangénie, provides an exclusive and peaceful getaway for guests. Open from 9am to 4pm, the island is accessed by a regular free boat service, and can be used at night for special theme evenings, on request. Lavish Sunday brunches are held at Robinson’s Restaurant here, or you can enjoy a private picnic in a secluded corner of the beach, in true desert island-style. |
