A17th-century fort, now carefully restored, forms the hub of this little resort in Shermans, a peaceful fishing community in the north west of Barbados. The hotel makes an ideal retreat for a few days, away from the bustle of the west coast.
Rising in terraces up a small hill are just 15 gingerbread-style Villa Suites. Their quaint fa硤es surround a small swimming pool, creating an intimate atmosphere. The comfortable one and two bedroom suites are furnished with local Caribbean art and Balinese-style darkwood furniture. Spread over twostoreys, each has a fully-equipped kitchen, living room and views across the pool and colourful tropical gardens. For those who prefer to be by the sea, the roomy two and three bedroom Fort Suites enjoy immediate access to the beach, this lies across a quiet road from the main resort.
Sunbeds and shady salas create inviting spots to linger on the sand, until hunger draws you to the waterfront Fish Pot, one of the most renowned restaurants on the island. Here, speciality Bajan dishes are served all day in open-air surroundings, with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. |
